Parker Academy's First "Night of the Arts" for 2009

On Tuesday, October 20th, Parker Academy hosted its annual "Night of the Arts."  The more than 50 people in attendance were witness to some amazing musical performances, poetry and visual arts.  The night kicked off with the Middle School Ensemble performing "Far Away" by Nickelback and "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz.  This was Vanessa's first night performing music in front of an audience and she  pulled it off flawlessly.

The crowd was then treated to some great poets reading original works including Parker students Emily, Lilly, Casey (the night's dashing MC), Chris, Samantha and science faculty member, Steve Kelsey. Samantha read of a big pay off at the end of a long cold night, Steve spoke of astronomical happenings that he wished everyone could see, and Casey dove into his summer-long cache of new material.

Ryan then took to the stage for an acappella performance.  Martha also sang an acappella original song entitled "Heart Song" which brought the house down.  Martha is new to Parker Academy and is a great addition to our music program.

Parker Academy faculty member Mike Blaisdell performed "If I Had a Boat" with his eight year old son, Aiden.  This was a great moment of the night that many will remember.  Following the performances, guests were able to browse the visual arts display created by our art students.

Thanks to all who came out to the event.  These nights are an important part of the Parker experience and we look forward to seeing you again at the next event.
